| Steeple Ashton (Sun) 5 - The Crown Devizes 2 |
Right now I actually turn't up at a game I can now report on it again. Cooky decided in his wisdom decided that due to the constant poor performances it was time for a changed and decided to try a new formation out 4 - 5 - 1. With 4P having the thankless task of running round up front with no other Crown player near him.

The game started badly for the Crown and during an extremely bad passage of play saw Notty nearly head the ball into his own net off an Ashton free kick. From the resulting corner Ashton went one up as both center backs decided to leave the ball alone or get in each others way, can't really remember just what Cookie told me, leaving the forward to punished the wanting defence, oh my god that sounds professional. After this things nearly improved for all of 10 seconds when we kicked off before giving the ball back to Ashton who processed to make the Crown side look like a bunch of idiots who had just been kicked out of a school for idiots for being just too stupid. After this Ashton scored again through what can only be called as a "Heres the Goal why don't you shoot" style of defending, sorry lads but it was true. Right now for the good news, things did get better after that. The poor team performance at this point was put down to the 28 days without football my the back ground staff after the game. It is then when 4P who had only touched the ball on kick off's at this point shouted out the phrase of the match "Our Center Halfs are Pissed), which they weren't at all.
Things then improved we started to look like a football team who knew what the round white thing that the other team had been kicking between themselves for the past 20 minutes was actually for, and use the white round thing, that was now getting off white with the amount of dirt on it, to what can only be called as playing football. It was during this passage of play a very generous penalty was given, not saying that the ref felt sorry for the team but it was that generous, Lee kicked there player as he cleared it, fell over and the ref blew. Interesting decision but now quite as interesting as the discussion of who was going to take it. The team have missed 7 pens in a row over the last 18 months. Up stepped H who was pissed off with everyone as normal by this point, the norm there then, who remarkably scored, the Crown were back in it. This is how is stayed till half time with after the inital poor 20 minutes turned into quite a fair game with Browner nearly leveling it up right on the stroke of half time with a shoot that landed three fields over and nearly twice as far right.
After the some what traditional roasting from manager cook and captain 4P, the players felt refreshed if not sore and ready for the second half. The Crown picked up from where they left off, getting more of the beginning and playing some good football in the process. However no real clear cut chances were created, this proved costly as Ashton got a third. Not sure what happened here as hangover was now beginning to kick in, and was busy doing shuttles and warming up exercise to impress the not very impressed Cooky. Then the critical substitution that cost the game, not really just sounds more dramatic, Browner, who in my eyes had been playing well came off for Gaz Lav the center back to play right mid with forward Wellsy playing left back.... ok work that one out then. This proved a master stroke as Ashton scored there forth straight away and made the game safe. Once the players had moved themselfs into there correct positions and super star midfielder G, thats right me, came on again the Crown started to play better and got one back with a good finish from 4P but an even better ball from H with the outside of his right foot cutting the defence open like a hot knife through butter on a very cold day. The next thing to happen was Roy shout at Cooky cause he couldn't see the line properly. This is probably the only thing Roy done all game.
From the resulting kick Ashton went up the other end and scored when Aiden, god knows how you spell it, came rushing out of goal at 90 miles an hour, missed the ball nearly took out Notty leaving the Ashton forward an easy tap in. 5 - 2 down. Nothing at all happened after that, not a thing, I didn't miss from 6 yards out, nor did the keeper pull off the save of the match from the thunder bolt that left my foot, very boring indeed. Ref blew his whistle we lost again.

| *I Would like to again apologise of the really bad spelling of the report, I can't be bothered to read it again or check, also these match reports are completely biased to that of the Crown Devizes FC, sorry but tough. Please also remember it's not the winning that matters. it's the getting away from the Mrs's for a couple of hours that counts.
